Hi Rory and family, you don't know me. I am a nurse from Taranaki, and have recently moved to Brisbane. Just wanted to send you good wishes for getting through this chemo. You are a very brave young man, with an amazing, strong family. My son is 8 yrs old and he thinks it's pretty cool that you like star wars as much as he does! We look forward to reading about your progress on your website each day.Take care and stay positive.
hi rory cool beads at school in assemberly COOL!
Well hello!! Today is another beautiful day!! Kody and Ben played soccer this morning, Ben played well and got a goal!! and Kody had to play for the Black Panthers as their team was one short, against his own team!! It was a great game to watch! Kody shared player of the day with another player, nobody could decide who to choose!! so they shared the honor. Kody felt great about it and I was very proud!! Today I have tried to assemble a new wardrobe organiser...lets not discuss what happened to the old one!!!.... without success! I have offically given up and am waiting for Brian to come home and do it for me!! (Brian is at a Marae near Kaikohe for a AGM). Fingers crossed he can sort it out! The boys are getting excited about the Telethon tonight, we are making beds in the lounge and having lots of treats!! Take care and hope you are feeling okay today. xxxxxxxxxx

A message for Leigh. I think it would be fair to say you are a very strong woman Leigh. Upon reading your honest and heartfelt update of yesterday, 6th August, it is clear that leaving Rory this time, even though he is in good hands was hard for you. The blessing is that both your sons, Sam and Rory have been blessed with awesome parents in yourself and Sean. I wish you all strength and love, Lorraine Hutchinson.
Hi there Rory, I hear that you are not feeling too great at the moment but thats because there's quite a battle going on inside your precious body for now and we know that the good guys always win, so keep up the great work. I purchased my first Kia Kaha Rory band today and am wearing it at work. Korie really liked the visit to the Kauri Museum yesterdday and was lucky enough to see the photo of his great, great grandfather hanging on the wall. His name was Nick Yakas and he discovered the Yakas tree in the Waipoua Forest. When you are feeling better I thought it would be a great idea if we all got together to do a walk to visit the Yakas tree, I was heavily pregnant with Korie when I last went there and Korie has never even seen it! Your family could teach mine a lot about the Waipoua environment and it would be a lot of fun. Well Korie has been having a reaction to something (not sure what) but for 2 nights in a row he has been scratching like a flea riddled dog! I think he is having a reaction to all the pollen in the air. Oooops its time for me to be at work so take care champ lots of love, hugs and wellness to you buddy Kathryn xox
Today Rory your class went to the Matakohe Museum, as we were getting off the bus you were on my mind (wishing you were there too!) and we heard a Tui singing away perched right at the top of a Tree (I think it was a Kauri tree!!) at the entrance to the Museum. I thought immedialty of the Tuis that were singing outside your hospital room! I have a few photos to show you of the trip and will try to get them to Mum before she comes back down. We went to the 100 year old School House and it was FREEEZZZING!!! They told us about what they wore to school how they got to and from school and what they did at school. One of the math sums on the board was something like 356 + 962 + 473 = !!!!!! There was a fireplace in the classroom (Not going!) No electricity and if any of the children got in too much trouble the teacher had to cane them!!! (ask Dad if he every got the cane!!) Girls were given the Strap if they were bad (Ask Mum about that one!) The Museum was HUGE they had lots of Kauri Gum with insects stuck in them, Necklaces made from Gum, and even some Kauri Gum HAIR!!! There was one room that was filled with Kauir Gum everywhere you looked! They had lots of maniquins (pretend people) in displays showing us how they lived and worked. They even climbed Kauri trees with spiked boots and cut into the tree to make it bleed gum then went back 6 months later to take the gum and sell it. You are not allowed to do this anymore! You probably know more than the average person about Kauri trees...with your Mum and Dad involved in this area!
The ride home was pretty hot, it was a beautiful day and the sun shined all day. One of the parents overtook the bus on the way home and tooted so the bus driver tooted back, the bus horn got stuck for a while, that was pretty funny!! and on the way there a cow ran in front of the Bus! All up it was a very good day. Maybe when you are all better we could do it all again? I could learn a thing or two from your Mum and Dad!
It sounds like your having a bit of a rough time :( and that stinks! Know that we are sending our love and strength to help you out. Keep Strong bud. xxxxx The Johnstons xxxxx
P.S We are off to buy some Rory bands tomorrow...Kody really really really wants one!!!
