Honorary bloke

Sam hunting April 2023

This week we re-established our routine, frustrated by the almost continuous rainfall like others across Aotearoa .  The wet weather makes Rory’s life harder in a multitude of small ways; the need to keep his cochlear implants dry when he moves incredibly slowly, hypervigilance to prevent slips, and the challenge of finding Rory stimulating indoor activities to do.  Some of his volunteering opportunities i.e. Doggy Day Care, The Junction, are unsuitable in wet and/or windy conditions.  This week Rory had a session with Psychologist Daniel.  He questioned why he needed to go but it is good for him, and us, for him to have someone separate to talk to in the absence of a partner or friends.  Over the last couple of months the boys have been spending a bit more time together.  Sam has been out hunting with Sean, we are back on the side line for Colt’s U13 football on a Saturday morning and today Sam and Rory hung out.  Sometimes it feels like I am an honorary bloke!
