Positive Covid19 test

Rory covid19 24 June 23

For 3.5 years we have isolated, masked, washed, sanitised and vaccinated in an effort to protect Rory from Covid19.  This morning he tested positive.  He has a sore throat, cough, reduced appetite and feels tired.  As Rory's system doesn't produce cortisol to allow his body fight illness we have to give him what is called a stress dose.  This is hydrocortisone in an increased amount with increased frequency.  We have collected anti-viral medication which Rory will start taking tonight.  We are keeping a very close eye on him.  Things may go well, but they may not.  It is a waiting game.  I am taking deep breaths.  It is too hard on Rory to confine him to his bedroom for seven days so we told him to move around the house as normal, but he is worried about infecting the rest of the family so has taken himself off to his bedroom.  Unfortunately Colt is also sick.  He has a headache, runny nose, sore throat, reduced appetite and feels tired.  I got up to him at midnight last night with a temperature of 39.5C.  He is currently testing negative.  He only had covid19 in mid-May.  Several of Colt's friends are also sick with viral illnesses.  Sean and I will have to tag team the boys this week so we can work.  Neither of them will like being stuck at home.

Over the last fortnight Rory had a day with Jo and enjoyed visiting the newest member of the Brimelow family, border collie puppy Dudley.  His favourite dogs were there for cuddles at Doggy Day Care and he got to meet Mark's girlfriend's new whippet puppy.  At NP Men's Shed he and Peter finished the memorial trophy for TRC member James Kitto.  On Thursday Rory had a blood test for an endocrinology appointment next week which will now have to be postponed.  This is to monitor the response of his system to commencement of a maintenance dose of adult growth hormone.
